Power Cage Overview
The basic HulkFit Power Cage has a cost of $299. This is a great deal for an average power cage! But is this average? Is it above average, or below?
This cage has a 1000 lb capacity, which is an amazing capacity. It can hold any weight you can work with, unless you are close to a squat world record, which is 1080 lbs.
The power cage has two solid steel safety bars that are designed with two j-hooks for convienence. They also included two extra j-hooks! They included two dip bars with a safety locker. Also, the j-hooks and dip bars are adjustable. Multi-grip pull-up bars are sturdy and hold firm. Rubber feet help increase traction.
Power Cage Options
The Power Cage has three options available when you purchase, all of them are different prices.
1. Power Cage
This is a picture of the power cage option. This is the basic option that is typically ordered from consumers. This set-up will give you a strong steel cage that will ensure you get a good workout.
Any steel power cage rated at a 1000 lb capacity will hold firmly through any workout. This is statement is reinforced especially by the fact that the world record for squat is 1080 lbs.
- H-Shape base with heavy duty square steel frame construction.
- Two solid steel safety bars with J-Hooks included.
- Two dip bars with safety locker are included.
- Power Cage Dimensions: 81″ x 44″ x 47″
- Product weighs approximately 165 lbs.
The price of the power cage is $299. This is a great value for the quality you are getting, and I recommend this product, as it will stand firm through any workout.
2. Power Cage + Lat Pulldown
This is a picture of the power cage with the lat pulldown attachment.
There are many things you can do with the lat pulldown attachment, including, but not limited to:
- Tricep Extensions
- Face Pulls
- Delt Raises
- Cable Crunches
- Hip Adductions
The Lat Pulldown is a good add-on to the power cage, with a lot of variety that can target your back and arms. This isn’t a part of the squat rack accessories that this site is meant to find, but it is a great add-on for upper body strength, which is important for a well-balanced body.
This option also includes a low row attachment to use with the machine.
The price of the Power Cage with the Lat Pulldown option is $417.
If you want the lat pulldown machine without the power cage included, that is also an option! The price is $118.
Option 3: Cable Crossover
I will begin this with my opinion.
I do not recommend this attachment. The price is too expensive for the product. The Cable Crossover is made well, but you can only do so much with the equipment.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s a nice add-on. But for the price of the power rack AND the Cable Crossover, you can get a more extensive set with similar quality.
The Cable Crossovers are similar to the Lat Pulldown machine, except it sets you up to do multiple-arm workouts.
However, if you are interested in the Cable Crossovers, it costs $399.
If you want to include more upper body gym equipment into this, you can expand your home gym set with a $99 weight bench in the same set. Do I recommend it?
If you have the money, absolutely, it is a nice weight bench. But you don’t need it. Really all you need is something to lay on and still be able to put your feet on the ground and take the bar to your chest.
However, it is true that the weight bench provides good support for your back on the bench press, allowing you to handle higher weights. So if you are truly planning on investing in a good system for full-body, this weight bench would be a good investment. I’d like to see you perform dumbbell rows on a piece of wood. It hurts. I know.
There are 410 customer reviews on Amazon for the HulkFit Multi-Function Power Cage. 75% gave the product 5 stars, 17% gave the product 4 stars, and 4% gave it 1 star. These are great statistics!
The Power Cage was given ratings based on four factors:
- Durability: 4.2/5
- Stability: 4.6/5
- Assembly: 4.4/5
- Sturdiness: 4.6/5
The Top Positive Review for this product had 162 people in agreement, and the user stated;
- The quality of the squat rack impressed him, and it was easy to assemble
- The welds are solid.
- J-hooks are more than adequate for the weight.
- The pulley system is solid and easily attachable to the frame.
He also commented on how he liked the safety bars and dip bars. He had some cons, but they were against personal preference, as he said. Simple measuring stats.
The Top Critical Review has 13 agreements, and the user stated;
- The holes in the vertical poles are not centered, so the safety bars cannot be installed.
- The lat pulldown scrapes metal causing unsmooth pulldowns.
- You cannot do squats or bench press from the back, because the bottom crossbar is too close. However, when I looked at the pictures he posted, the product he showed did not look like the HulkFit Power Cage, and there is a user in the the comments that said the same thing. It might have been, but I believe overall, this is a deal that you really cannot beat.
Should You Buy The HulkFit Power Cage?
The HulkFit Power Cage is $299, which would generally be considered on the lower end of the home gym prices. So taking that into regard, and considering the amount of squat rack accessories that this home gym contains, I believe it is a great value for the price.
I took the critical reviews into consideration, but I believe that the ratio of positive reviews compared to negative outweighs the possibility of the holes not being centered. It was more than likely a unit malfunction, because most users didn’t experience this problem.
I typically work out in a gym, but I have a home gym set. I will tell you that I wish I had known about this product when I was searching for one, because I paid more for my set, and it comes with a lot less. I truly believe that the quality of the product is higher than the price that Amazon is selling it for.
